“There are many little ways to enlarge your world. Love of books is the best of all.”
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Former USA First Lady

We have a variety of literature for all ages. Our reading materials include fiction, non-fiction, reference, children, young adult, genealogy and much more. See below for more information on each department.

The famous artist Pablo Picasso once said that computers are useless because they can only give you answers. So, if you need answers to life's questions, stop by and use one of our public access computers.

Print & Fax

Be yourself because an original is more than a copy. But if you need a copy, they are 20 cents for b&w and 50 cents for color. We also fax at a cost of $1.00 for the first page and 75 cents for each additional page.

About us

“That perfect tranquility of life, which is nowhere to be found but in retreat, a faithful friend and a good library.”
~ Aphra Behn - English Author

"Every time you enter a library you might say to yourself, 'The world is quiet here,' as a sort of pledge proclaiming reading to be the greater good."

~ Lemony Snicket, American Novelist

"Google can bring you back 100,000 answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one."
 ~ Neil Gaiman, English Author

Kate Clabough

Library Director

“She was brilliant and joyous and she believed- probably correctly- that libraries contain the answers to all things, to everything, and that if you can't find the information you seek in the library, then such information probably doesn't exist in this or any parallel universe now or ever to be known. She was thoughtful and kind and she always believed the best of everybody. She was, above all else, a master librarian and she knew where to find any book on any subject in the shortest possible time. And she was wonderfully unhinged.”

~ Gary Paulsen, American Author

Kate Clabough has been the Loudon Public Library Director since 2019. She began her career in Alma, Nebraska, where she served as Director of Hoesch Memorial Library.  After moving to Tennessee in 1997, she has worked as a genealogist, graphic designer, grant writer, historian, journalist, and as assistant director in the children's department at the Blount County Library. Kate has the experience and versatility to assist patrons with their many library needs.

Librarians are there: To help, aid, assist. To teach, collate, enthuse. To catalog, index, arrange, organize. To find, discover, promote, display. To interest, intrigue, amuse and amaze. To instill wonder. To help children, adults, old people, the underprivileged, the rich, the poor, those with voices and those without. To protect resources, to archive them, to store them, to save them for the future. To provide differing viewpoints, to engender thought, conversation, research, fun. To provide the best answer possible, to match the answer to the enquirer, to provide just enough information without overwhelming the user, but enough to always help. To better a local community, a company, a school, a college, an organization, a country, the world.

~ Phil Bradley, English Author
